FOXBORO, MA – It was a day that hundreds of young Seacoast United players will never forget. Stepping out onto the field at Gillette Stadium, where the New England Revolution and New England Patriots call home, is a special occasion on its own, but given everything that has happened over the past 18 months it’ safe to say Saturday was that much more special.
After several weeks of preparation and planning, Saturday 21st had finally arrived and with it, hundreds of Seacoast United staff, players and families from around New England. The entire day was packed with soccer activities not only at Gillette Stadium, but also down the road at the brand new WeGotSoccer store in Wrentham, MA. The crew at WeGotSoccer set up an entire activation zone for players and families which included a Nike Boot Room where players could try on the latest Nike footwear and Teqball Tables which allowed players to test their skills. If that wasn’t enough, every single player received a special edition Nike/Seacoast United hoodie which marked the club’s 25th anniversary with the international sports apparel giant. Once everyone made it back to Gillette Stadium, families from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine had tailgates set up all over the parking lot which added to the overall atmosphere.
“We wanted to do something really special to commemorate our 25th anniversary with Nike and thanks to our friends at WeGotSoccer and New England Revolution, we were able to do just that.” Said Seacoast United Founder & President Paul Willis. “We had close to 500 players on the field from 1:30 – 5:30pm and there is no better sight than hundreds of Volt Yellow uniforms dotting around the field at Gillette Stadium.” Willis went on to say, “Not only did the players get to play on the field, they also received a beautiful special edition hoodie from our friends at WeGotSoccer and Nike which helped make the whole occasion even more memorable.”
This was the first time Seacoast United had organized a day out at Gillette Stadium since 2016 and given the response, it is something they will certainly look to do next year. “It was amazing to see families from all over New England here on Saturday representing Seacoast United.” Said New England Revolution Senior Manager Richard Powell. “Paul and his entire staff do a great job of interacting with their players and families so we were delighted to play a part in making this a special day.”
The entire day served as the official kick off for the club’s longstanding partnership with Nike. Over the coming months, there will be several other exciting opportunities to help commemorate the partnership which will lead into next year when Seacoast United celebrates its 30th anniversary. On behalf of Paul Willis, Ian Burgess, Dave Burgess and the rest of Seacoast United Sports Club, thank you to all of those that came out on Saturday.
