The 2011 Jarkko Tuominen Scholars were announced at the Jarkko Tuominen Memorial Golf Tournament held on Monday, August 1st at Abenaqui Country Club in Rye, NH.  A total of 29 student-athletes from Seacoast United Soccer Club, Field Hockey Club, Seacoast United Maine, and the FC Greater Boston Bolts were awarded scholarships as they begin their college careers this fall.

Applicants for the Jarkko Tuominen Scholarship were required to write an essay linking the countries of the United States and Finland (Jarkko’s native country).  Jarkko was a dear friend to the Club and an employee of Nike Soccer who passed away in 2005.  The College Scholarship is dedicated to his memory and a way of supporting Seacoast United players embarking on their collegiate athletic careers.

Participants in the golf tournament included representatives from Nike, Nike Soccer, WeGotSoccer, Ocean Properties Ltd., TD Bank, Blue Water Mortgage, Coca-Cola, Smuttynose Brewing Co., and other friends of Seacoast United.
