May 21-22, 2011

The 11U’s participated in the Legends Showcase Tournament in Kensington, NH over the weekend of May 21-22nd.  Click "continue" to read reports on all of their games from the weekend.

On Saturday, May 21, the team played the host teams, Legends Gold and Navy, in pool play and losing to both.

In the first game, Seacoast fell to an early deficit it could not overcome, losing 11-1.  Despite hits by Seacoasts Tyler Peel, Connor Singh, Ben Palmer and Owen Willis and Zac Butenas (double), Seacoast could not string the hits together against the effective pitching of Legends Gold southpaw Ian Libby.  The second game occurred in similar fashion, with Seacoast falling behind early and losing 14-4 to the pitching of Legends Navy pitcher Tommy Lapham.  Seacoast battled back against the early lead, keeping the game within reach on hits from Tyler Peel, Owen Willis, Stan Hultin  (2 hits), Zac Butenas, Grady Coyle and Cam Flanagan.  In the 5th inning though, Legends took a commanding lead and held it to win handily.

On Sunday, Seacoast bounced back nicely, beating Northeast Baseball and Athlete’s Edge, both of Littleton, MA, by scores of 15-2 and 11-0, respectively.  Against Northeast Baseball, Seacoast was led by strong pitching of Willis (1 scoreless inning), Luke Stephens and Ado Bator (2 scoreless innings).  Morissette (2HR, walk and single, 3 runs scored), Peel (3 hits, double, run scored), Stephens (2 hits, 3 runs scored), Hultin (2 hits, 2 runs scored) and Cam Flanagan (2 hits, run scored) led the offense, with Willis, Palmer, and Matt Szuba chipping in a hit each.

In the second game, Seacoast United scored in the first inning on singles by Palmer (2 hits, run scored) and Alex Swett (hit, walk, run scored).  Seacoast went on to score in every inning, led by Willis (HR, single, 2 runs scored) and Peel (3 hits, double, 2 runs scored), Connor Singh (2 hits, run scored) and Bator (2 hits, 2 runs scored).  Billy Blackett and Coyle each singled.  Morissette threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings, and Alex Swett delivered 1 1/3 more to close the shutout.

The Club plays divisional doubleheaders on Saturday 6/3 and Sunday 6/4 at Sawyer Park in Kensington, beginning each at 12:30.
