Seacoast United's 12's and 14's swept the NH Grizzlies, winning both games of their doubleheaders on Sunday, May 22nd.
Seacoast United’s 14U’s swept the NH Grizzlies in Sunday’s doubleheader, improving its overall record to 11-4 on the season. In the 1st game, Seacoast erupted for 21 runs to a 21-1 win. Matt Oppici pitched very well in the win, Henrik Barbin, Justin Jewell, Mike McAuliffe, and James Peel all had two hits a piece. In the 2nd game, the hits continued for Seacoast United as they thumped the Grizzlies again, 10-1. McAuliffe had two hits and Seacoast utilized 6 different pitchers in the victory (Brigham, Pafford, Thompson, Peel, Jewell, and Barbin).
The boys from NH traveled to Wellesley, MA on Sunday for a twinbill with the Bay State Eagles in a non-division contest. The Seacoast team prevailed in both games, winning the first by a score of 15-5 and claiming the second tilt 7-4.
Game one saw the boys in blue pound out 16 hits, rallying from a 5-2 deficit in the fourth to claim a 6-5 lead. The hot bats would plate 9 runs in their final two at bats for the win. Leading the way at the plate were Brad Keaveney, Bryce Dawson, Austin Santos, Jojo Stark, Trevor Couett and Shane McClure. Each of the players had multiple hits. In the field, Collin Shapiro, Anthony LaBella and Garrett Fosher all made defensive web gems.
The second tilt saw the teams knotted at 3-3 after three innings. Seacoast would score two in the fourth and fifth innings on their way to a 7-4 triumph. Kyle Ball, Michael Sullivan and Jojo Stark lead the way with their hitting. Pitching well for the SU squad were Jojo Stark, Bryce Dawson and Garrett Fosher. The team's record now stands at 5-1 with doubleheaders on the road at Sunapee and Saco, Maine this weekend.
