Two Seacoast United Pirates teams recently returned from a competitive baseball tournament at Historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach, FL, taking place over President's Day weekend.  The former spring training home of the LA Dodgers was an incredible venue for sun starved teams from the likes of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Canada.  Both NH teams played on first-class fields, experiencing games on both the stadium field as well as under the lights as part of the event.

The Pirates 14U and 16U teams literally played up a full age group in the competition and all of the players benefitted from the experience.  Players represented numerous towns within the seacoast NH area as they used the tournament as a tune-up for their upcoming spring seasons.

The 16U team finished with a record of 3-1, including a tremendous 9-3 victory over the Minnesota Classic who went on to win the event.  The Classic team were also coming off another tournament championship two weeks earlier in Arizona, making the Seacoast United performance that much more impressive.

Sixteen teams competed in the 14U age bracket and while the Pirates went 0-4, two of the teams in their group made it to the semifinal, including eventual champion Minnesota Blizzard.  Many of the players were competing on a 90-foot diamond for the first time and the 14's put in their best performance in their last game vs. Saints Thielbar of Minnesota, finishing up on the wrong end of a 3-2 loss which went right down to the wire.
