REGIONALS A MASSIVE HIT

The Seacoast United Field Hockey program wrapped up its very own Northeast Regional Tournament this past weekend, with several Seacoast United teams finishing top of their group. The tournament, which took place July 15-18 at the Seacoast United Outdoor Complex in Epping, NH, was the only one to take place across the entire country and served as a regional event in place of the annal Regional Club Championships (RCCs). Due to the ongoing pandemic, the tournament was made up of U14, U16, and U19 divisions.

In addition to hosting a successful event with teams hailing from all around New England, it was also an equally successful weekend on the field for the Seacoast United teams who competed. The tournament saw a total of 12 teams from around the northeast who took the field during the event, with 5 of them being Seacoast United teams. A big congratulations to the U16 team who finished undefeated and took the top spot in their age division. The U14 team put up one of the more impressive displays in the tournament by scoring 18 goals, while conceding only 3 throughout their 4 games. The oldest age bracket (U19s) had two of its teams sharing top rankings in their respective division.

“This was a fantastic event not only for the coaches and players, but for everyone involved in field hockey,” commented Assistant Director of Field Hockey Melissa Nawn. “Our team worked incredibly hard behind the scenes to pull this event off and it was great to see kids back out on the field doing what they love.”

The next tournament Seacoast United Field Hockey will be hosting is the Shooting Stars Regional Cup where 5 SUFH teams will be represented amongst the U12-U19 age divisions. This event is being hosted at Seacoast United for the first time in program history. Please contact Melissa Nawn at mgrant@seacoastunited.com for more on the tournament.
