Participating in events across NH, MA, CT, MD, and PA over the course of May 25-27th, Seacoast United teams had a busy calendar of travel and games during the largest soccer tournament weekend in the country. The majority of games would take place on Saturday and Sunday in wet conditions for the northeast, but for those fortunate enough to advance out of group play, perfect 70 degree conditions awaited them on Monday for the playoff rounds.
The U16 Girls Showcase team won the Columbia (MD) Elite Soccer Tournament, defeating PA Classics 2-1 in the final. The U17 Boys Premier team won their age division at Potomac, defeating FC Elite ’95 (PA) by the score of 1-0. In the Oakwood Premier Invitational (CT), Seacoast United’s U11 Boys Premier-DR defeated FC Stars of MA 2-1 in the final on Monday morning. U12G Premier-KK advanced to the semi-finals of the Needham Memorial Day Tournament in Massachusetts after going 3-0 in group play.
The Club’s event held in Epping, named in honor of former Seacoast United player and US Navy S.E.A.L. Nate Hardy, crowned champions in 6 divisions as the tournament grew to include 70 teams in 2013. Champions included U11G SUSC Blackbear (Bangor ME), U12G SUSC Select-PW (NH), and U14G Seacoast Express United (Concord, NH). On the boys side, U11B & U12B SUSC Mariners (Portland ME), and U13B Seacoast Express United. Over 30 teams participated in the U9 and U10 brackets in non-competitive group play.
