Seacoast United will once again be heading ‘across the pond’ this summer and in record numbers. On Saturday August 3rd, there will be 115 Seacoast United soccer players and staff departing Boston, MA for London, England. Since 2015, Seacoast United has sent over 700 soccer, field hockey and baseball players to Europe with the majority of the trips taking place in England. Thanks to the Club’s partnerships with Nike, Sports Tours Europe and Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club (Premier League), these once in a lifetime opportunities have become a reality.
The group that is flying out on Saturday will be the largest one the organization has sent to date and will feature a variety of teams from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. The group will be staying 9 days/8 nights in Brighton, England which is located just a hour south of London. Brighton is a beautiful seaside town that sits right on the English Channel and it affectionately known as the ‘Seaside for Londoners’. The teams will be staying at the historic Lancing College which is the equivalent of Hogwarts Castle. While on the trip, the teams will be training at Brighton’s world class training facility, the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre. In addition to working with Brighton’s Academy coaches, the teams will be playing against Brighton teams and other local clubs. In addition to training and playing, the group will be going on several excursions including London and nearby Portsmouth. The group will also be taking in two professional matches with the highlight of the trip easily being the Community Shield which will be played between Manchester City and Liverpool.
“Sending over 100 people to England, many of which have never even left New England let alone the country, is truly incredible”, said Sales and Marketing Director James Peterson. “We firmly believe in the importance of traveling abroad and we couldn’t be happier that our players and coaches get to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity. Being able to play soccer in another country at the age of 11 or 12 doesn’t happen often so this is fantastic.”
