Carter Lifts Phantoms Past GPS Phoenix

June 1st, 2016

MANCHESTER, NH - In an early season match between two division rivals, the Seacoast United Phantoms came out on top to remain 1st in the PDL’s Northeast Division.

Midfielder Terence Carter provided the game’s only goal, scoring in the 84th minute.  Carter received a pass from striker AJ Dubios, took a touch to beat the defender to the left, then slotted the ball in the right corner past GPS goalkeeper Matt Williams.

The Phantoms nearly broke the game open in the first minute, with 3 consecutive shots on goal; the first freezing Williams while hitting the right post.
Seacoast United held a slight advantage in time of possession in a match that was physical from start to finish.

“We are delighted with the result, especially against one of our main competitors,” commented head coach Iain Scott.

With tonight’s win, the Phantoms improve to 3-1-1 on the season, and lead the division.  GPS Portland suffers its first defeat of the season, dropping to 2-1-0.
