Division Rival GPS Phoenix to Host Phantoms on Sunday

With the last of a tough road schedule coming up this Sunday vs. division rival GPS Portland Phoenix, the Phantoms currently sit at the top of the Northeast Division with a 7-1-1 record (22 points) as they look to defend their 2014 title.

A season that has seen only 3 home games in their first 9 appearances, the squad has a favorable July schedule ahead of them with the last four division games taking place in Portsmouth.

A season that has seen only 3 home games in their first 9 appearances, the squad has a favorable July schedule ahead of them with the last four division games taking place in Portsmouth.

The match on June 28th will pit the top two teams in the division against each other for the 3rd time this season, with the first two yielding a Phantoms 2-1 win and a scoreless tie.  GPS Portland and Seacoast United will meet up one last time on July 3rd in a game that very well could decide 1st and 2nd place.

Phantoms midfielder Abel Perez has been scorching hot as of late, tallying 5 goals and 3 assists in a span of 4 games (3 wins) taking place during the stretch of June 13th-19th.  

During that timeframe, the Phantoms defeated FA Euro 4-1 and AC Connecticut 5-1 in back to back games on June 13th & 14th.  The first loss of the season came at the hands of Real Boston Rams two days later, however Seacoast United rebounded for a 3-2 win on Friday, June 19th playing the majority of the 2nd half with just 10 men.

"For the first time in several weeks, our game schedule allows us to go into Sunday's game well prepared, refreshed, and raring to go," commented head coach Iain Scott when asked about the remaining games on the calendar.
