FAMILIAR FACE RETURNS TO THE PHANTOMS

FEBRUARY 2020

HAMPTON, NH – Seacoast United Soccer Club announces the appointment of Stefano Franciosa as the head coach of the USL League Two team, Seacoast United Phantoms, for the 2020 season.

Franciosa comes to Seacoast with a wealth of experience having coached Mass United in the American Soccer League (ASL) and then the United State Soccer League (USPL). While under his helm, the Mass United team advanced to the post season every year since 2014. Prior to his time at Mass United, Franciosa was coaching professionally in Italy (Lecco Calcio) and Finland (EIF Finland). Fans and followers of Seacoast Untied Phantoms may sense a bit of déjà vu and that is no mistake – Franciosa had coached the  Phantoms in 2010, when they were a part of the Premier Development League.

“I am very excited to be back as head coach of the Seacoast United Phantoms,” said Franciosa. “The club has evolved since my time here and is now considered one of the top soccer organizations in the entire country.” Franciosa went on to say, “There is a lot of positive momentum right now with the success that Seacoast’s Development Academy program is experiencing.  It is important for us to have something in place at the top of the pyramid.”

In 2020, Seacoast United Phantoms will look to add another Northeast Division title to the trophy cabinet.  Franciosa expects strong competition from GPS Portland Phoenix (ME), AC Connecticut, Black Rock (CT), Western MA Pioneers, Boston Bolts (MA), Westchester Flames (NY), and newcomers Manhattan SC (NY).

“This is another step in the right direction for Seacoast United - we are providing soccer at every level,” added Phantoms’ General Manage Alex Ryan.  “We are one of the few clubs in  the northeast that has the infrastructure in place to really kick-on and I am excited to see the energy on the field  this summer and the professionalism that Stefano will bring to the program.”

The Seacoast United Phantoms kick off the 2020 season on May 20th when they play host to Boston Bolts at the home field (Seacoast United Phantoms Complex) at 7pm. You can view the entire 2020 schedule online here.
