June 13, 2015

JAMAICA, NY – A goal and 2 assists from Abel Perez, plus two goals by Terence Carter proved enough to  offense to propel the Phantoms to a 4-1 victory over FA Euro at St. John’s University.

After a 10 day break in their schedule, the Seacoast United Phantoms hit the road for back to back games this weekend, the first taking place in New York in a non-division match.  FA Euro of the Mid Atlantic division entered the game with a 1-3-1 record, and were the first to score when midfielder Mohammed Mashriqi used his speed to put the home team on the board in the 17th minute.

Seacoast midfielder Terence Carter would equalize just 6 minutes later from an Abel Perez corner kick.  The two teams would trade attacking opportunities for the remainder of the first half as the score remained 1-1 at the break.

The Phantoms showed a spark coming out of halftime, exploding for three goals in a 15 minute span.  The first was 46 seconds into the half when Sofiane Tergou was fouled at the top of the 18 yd box.  Midfielder Andre Simmond’s service found Cam Omsberg’s header for a 2-1 lead.

In the 57th minute, midfielder Abel Perez chipped the ball over the FA Euro goalkeeper from 30 yds out to extend the lead to 3-1.  Perez would also assist via a cross on Carter’s 2nd goal of the night three minutes later.

The Phantoms dominated possession in the 2nd half as they improve to 5-0-1 overall, and will make a stop in the Nutmeg State tomorrow evening on their way home to face AC Connecticut (1-3-1 overall) at 6pm.
