|Phantoms striker Terence Carter|
NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Seacoast United Phantoms opened the 2014 season on Saturday on a positive note with a 1-0 road win at Westchester Flames.
After a rough 2013 campaign where the Phantoms struggled to score goals, striker Terence Carter put the visitors on the board in the 21st minute (PK), which proved enough for the victory.
Carter, a native of London, England, and rising Junior at Northeastern University has been recognized within the conference as CAA Player of the Week (2013), CAA Co-Rookie of the Week (2012), and CAA All-Rookie Team (2012).
The Phantoms held the advantage in shots on goal 12-3, coming from 7 different players. Goalkeeper Dominic Dimaggio earned the shutout.
Westchester is one of two new members in the PDL’s Northeast Division, after competing last year in the Mid-Atlantic Division. The other is the Montreal Impact U23’s, who visit New Hampshire later this month.
The Phantoms open their home schedule this weekend, hosting CFC Azul on Sunday, May 18th at Portsmouth High School, with the kickoff set for 3pm. Admission is free for all children age 18 and under, and just $5 for adults.
