Here Comes The Phantoms

EPPING, NH - The Seacoast United Phantoms are heading to the USL League Two Playoffs! The Phantoms continued their stretch of wins with two more this past weekend. Only needing four, the Phantoms exceeded the number of points needed to all but ensure their place in the playoffs, handily winning two games and earning themselves 6 points over the weekend. During the grand stand finish, the Phantoms scored 15 goals and conceded just once. They will head into Friday’s match hoping to build upon that momentum when they head south for the playoff action.

The Phantoms kicked off the weekend in some style, securing a 4-0 victory against Malaga City. Jacob Gould put in quite the performance, playing a role in all 3 goals that were scored in that half. Heading into Sunday night with a playoff spot in sight, the Phantoms faced their toughest test of the season against Northeast Division Champions Western Mass Pioneers. The first half was a tight affair but the Phantoms came flying out the gate after halftime, thanks to strikers Dominic Laws and Franz Pierrot who both found the back of the net before the 60th minute mark. The Pioneers ramped up the pressure and responded with a goal but the Phantoms held on for a 2-1 victory against the league champions.

After these two wins and a late season push by the Phantoms that put them in this year's playoff, they are set to play the Long Island Rough Riders for their first-round matchup Friday afternoon. The game will take place at the Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow, Massachusetts, where rivals Western Mass Pioneers play all of their home games. The Phantoms will face their toughest challenge yet as they will go up against a defense which has only allowed 7 goals all season. If the Phantoms are able to break through, they will progress to the next round which is scheduled for the following day at the same venue. The Phantoms had a strong finish to the regular season and they head down to Massachusetts knowing they have hundreds of supporters back in New Hampshire cheering them on.
