Rosenthal Addresses Attendees at Wentworth Luncheon

Seacoast United kicked off its busy week of events with the Jim Rosenthal Sports Business Luncheon held Monday afternoon at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel & Spa in New Castle, NH.  Guest speaker Rosenthal, a famous British sportscaster, addressed the 125 guests in attendance this afternoon in the first of many such special events this week hosted by both Seacoast United and sister club Oxford United from England. 

NEW CASTLE, NH - Seacoast United kicked off its busy week of events with the Jim Rosenthal Sports Business Luncheon held Monday afternoon at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel & Spa.  Guest speaker Rosenthal, a famous British sportscaster, addressed the 125 guests in attendance this afternoon in the first of many such special events this week hosted by both Seacoast United and sister club Oxford United from England.  Players, coaches, and staff from Oxford United Football Club arrive Monday evening and will play three preseason matches in the Portsmouth area before departing on Tuesday, July 19th.

Rosenthal engaged the crowd with stories of personal experiences through his years as a sports broadcaster.  These experiences included covering 8 FIFA World Cups, the Olympic Games, Grand Prix races, world boxing events, as well as interviews with boxing great Muhammad Ali and US track & field star Florence Griffith-Joyner.  A native of Oxford, England, he is a true fan of the club and now serves on OUFC’s Board of Directors.  Rosenthal has worked for local Oxford newspapers as well as networks such as ITV and the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) since 1980.

Oxford United plays the first of their three preseason matches on Thursday when they face the Seacoast United Phantoms.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm at Exeter High School and tickets will be available at the gate as well as on the Seacoast United website at www.seacoastunited.org/oxfordunited.  For more on the preseason tour and available game schedule, please visit www.seacoastunited.org.
