US Soccer made a major change to the scheduling for the 2019/20 Season, with the introduction of the Development Academy Cup Competition at the U15, U17 and U19 age groups. All of the affiliated DA Clubs were divided into Regional Groups, with the winners advancing to the next round of the DA Cup, scheduled to take place at the Winter Showcase in Florida for the U17 & U19 groups.
Seacoast United were drawn alongside regional opponents Boston Bolts, Oakwood & Beachside this fall which saw all of the teams compete both home and away.
The U15 age group was highly competitive with all teams taking points from each other. In the end, the Seacoast boys finished in first place with 12 points out of a possible 18 (6 games).
The U17 age group experienced similar success finishing first place in the standings with a perfect 18 points from the 6 games played. As a result, the boys have qualified for the round of 32, which will take place at the Winter Showcase.
“A core of the players involved with the U15 team have played together since the Junior Academy Program,” said Boys DA Director Peter Decker. “We are delighted with the success of the group and look forward to their continued development moving forward. For the U17s it is exciting times ahead as we eagerly anticipate the draw for the next round of the competition, which will see the boys face some of the top teams in the nation.”
