SEACOAST UNITED US SOCCER DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY: #ONECLUB

Earlier this year, Seacoast United Sports Club announced that it had been selected to join the US Soccer Girls’ Development Academy program for the 2018/19 season.  As the only club in northern New England affiliated with the US Soccer Development Academy for both boys and girls, Seacoast United will look to continue to develop talent across the region.

The DA program concluded last year with the summer showcase event in San Diego. All groups were able to gain both great experience and exposure through these types of events. Every one of the 638 games played during the spring 2018 Development Academy Summer Showcase, Playoffs and Championships was observed by at least one U.S. Soccer Scout, Technical Advisor or Youth National Team head coach.

Outside of U.S. Soccer, coaches from the collegiate level, as well as talent identifiers from domestic professional leagues and international professional clubs, were also out in full force at SoCal Sports Complex. From the collegiate level alone, over 400 scouts and head coaches from all NCAA Divisions, including 250+ from Division 1 schools, came out in waves to the Summer Showcase and Playoffs. In addition, dozens of MLS and USL clubs represented domestic professional programs scouting top talent while 30+ international scouts came from some of the biggest leagues around the world including Bundesliga, Serbian SuperLiga, Liga MX, English Premier League and Eredivisie.

Looking ahead to the 2018/2019, both programs will kick-off their season the first weekend in September. Seacoast United is rolling out several new initiatives to coincide with the start of the new season in an effort to help develop players, both on and off the field. The newly launched Player Responsibility will allow our DA players to participate in community oriented programs/events. In addition to volunteering in the community, we will have the players involved with our own grassroots programs so that they can engage with younger players of all ages and abilities. This is all part of a broader campaign called #OneClub which will see our players, coaches and families coming together in an effort to create opportunities throughout the community.
